DescriptionShells were a valuable source of durable material for tools and ornaments. This necklace made of drilled shell beads and a single conch shell is an unusual example. The conch shell has inscribed designs reminiscent of a single glyph block. Children are often found interred with shell ornaments and the dimensions of this necklace suggest it may have been made for a child.
