DescriptionThis beautifully executed imperial dish is decorated with eight boys in the cavetto, holding the eight sacred treasures or baogu. One of the boys, in the center, is larger than the other seven. It is possible that this dish was made for the annual Boys Day celebration. The underside of the dish repeats the seven boys around the exterior. The dish bears the imperial mark of the Emperor Qianlong. The development of heavily decorated enamel porcelains became very popular during the mid to late 18th century. On View
