    DescriptionThis cotton huipil comes from the famous weaving village of Chichicastenango, Quiché and features the sunburst, the zigzag, and the diamond-like cosmogram as its key icons. The sunburst around the neck is indicative of rank as the sun represents power and knowledge. The mountains are represented through the large and bright zigzags in the center of the work and together these symbols operate as a Maya cosmogram, or map of the universe, to represent the Maya world and the coexistence of humans and environment. Huipiles by the weavers of Chichicastenango are highly sought after by collectors and tourists alike.
