DescriptionThis stele depicts the deceased prince Hapu and his mother Queen Iabten seated around an offering table. The hieroglyphic text below them contains a prayer asking for offerings for Hapu. This rare thirteenth dynasty stele comes from Abydos, the burial spot of the god Osiris, where Egyptians established small chapels with steles in hopes of sharing the offerings brought to Osiris. Hapu’s actual burial was likely in another location. On View
