DescriptionRitual pot with the image of a disease-producing spirit. The spirit of a specific affliction is trapped in the clay of the unfired pot by touching it to the sick person, then firing it. The finished pot is then put on a shrine. Similar practices are shared by a number of closely related peoples of the central Nigerian plateau.
