DescriptionTwo images of God K, or GII of the Palenque Triad, appear on this black and white painted bowl. God K is a common image on Maya ceramics and symbolizes the bounty that comes with royal dynastic power, as well as lightning, flint, and other natural forces that provide access to power. God K, Kawil, frequently appears on black and white codex-style vessels from the area around Nakbe in the Petén region of modern day Guatemala.
