DescriptionThis bowl celebrates a major theme of this exhibition: Respect and reverence for the jaguar and its relationship with humans. The body of the bowl provides the body of the jaguar, with a modeled head attached to the front and three legs rather than four. Black, cream, and red paint were used against an orange background. The artists carefully placed dots and spirals around the rim to accentuate the jaguar’s distinctive spots. A bowl of this size and design would have been used for ceremonial feasting. On View
