    DescriptionThere is a close association between bards (griots) and leatherworkers in West Africa, especially in the Mande speaking area where they may be the same person, traveling from one location to the next, working for clients without regard to ethnic affiliation. Bards are also linked by tradition with blacksmiths who forge iron objects such as this bow.
