DescriptionThis Lunar Face Mask is worn in the Abubom performance honoring a female creation deity, or "Great Mother." The round frame represents the full moon, and the crescents on its surface may represent the phases of the moon. Other subgroupds of the Ibibio use a lumar mask similar to this example, as do some of the Igbo groups.
